Czech dancer Andrej Lyga performed at the Jerusalem International Festival of Solo Dance with an impressive performance A Fairytale for the Brave. This unique project, realized with the support of the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv, connected the art of dance with secret and mystery.
On September 12, 2024, an important figure of the contemporary Czech dance scene - Andrej Lyga - presented himself at the Jerusalem International Festival of Solo Dance. Every year the festival hosts artists from different corners of the world, and the performance of Lyga offered the audience a unique experience that combined storytelling with expressive dance technique.
A Fairytale for the Brave introduced the audience to the world of mysterious forests and mystical beings. The story of a ghost who seduces passers-by and takes control over them was brought to life by Andrej Lyga only with movement, without any words. Lyga's choreography was in the spirit of dramatic dance, where each phase of movement enhanced the tense atmosphere of the entire performance.
Thanks to this performance, the festival gained another important moment, which underlined its high level. With the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tel Aviv and the Czech Center in Tel Aviv, Czech dance had an important presence in Jerusalem, and Andrej Lyga once again proved that he belongs to the leading personalities of contemporary dance art.
