The "My Flag" campaign, which we prepared to mark the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia on 28 October 1918, works with a key symbol of national pride, unity and identity, the Czech flag. In this campaign, we are joining forces with individual ministries, municipalities, embassies, Czech Centres and embassies.
Press release of the Strategic Communication Department of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic of 25 October 2024
The assignment was simple. To photograph our flag in as many places as possible. The aim of the campaign is to encourage citizens to take pride in their republic and show them that they live in a beautiful and confident country worth living in. The entire campaign is accompanied by the hashtag #mojevlajka, which is loosely related to the #můj68 campaign.
"The strategic communication will promote the values on which the Czech Republic stands. The Czech flag represents these values. It therefore belongs in the hands of patriots for whom, in the words of Masaryk, patriotism is love for their own country, not hatred of others, " says Otakar Foltýn, the government's strategic communication coordinator.
Photos and videos of the flag will be shared via social media with the hashtag #mojevlajka.
We also prepared a small game and placed several dozen boxes with the Czech flag and badges with the campaign symbol in interesting places in the Czech Republic and abroad. People can find them by following the prepared map. Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský adds: "We have set ourselves the goal of being the flagship of strategic communication. In the two years of its operation, the Strategic Communication Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been able to share its experience and inspire other countries. In cooperation with Czech Centres, we sent boxes with the Czech flag and badge to seven destinations, from Hanoi to Bratislava. More than 60 embassies from all over the world are participating in the campaign, sharing photos and videos from their locations."
The Government Office will join the campaign on Monday 28 October and will offer visitors a commemorative book where everyone can write their wishes to the Republic during the Straka Academy's open day. People will also be able to have their picture taken with the national flag and take away a badge with the symbol of the celebrations as a souvenir. In the evening, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Straka Academy building will be lit up in the colours of the tricolour. The Department of Strategic Communication of the State links and coordinates communication with the various ministries. It is in this cooperation that the My Flag campaign was born to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state, which enables us to celebrate this holiday anywhere in the world.
