Czech Film Week 2023 successfully opened on Tuesday 15 August at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. As in other cities, the film festival kicked off with the award-winning film Il Boemo, depicting the life of Czech composer Josef Mysliveček. Jan Štern, Director of the Czech Centre Tel Aviv and Czech House Jerusalem, personally welcomed the audience to the screening and wished them a pleasant time.
As in previous years, Czech Film Week has prepared a showcase of the best Czech films. The audience can come to see the drama Arvéd, after the screening they have the opportunity to personally debate with the director of the film Vojtěch Mašek. The festival also features classic Czech comedies, which this year are presented by the films The Good Soldier Švejk and The Tank Battalion. Last but not least, we're also screening the award-winning 1960s film The Party and the Guests.
